What is
Past Life Regression?
I think that most of you will have some understanding of what Past Life Regression is even if you are not
too sure how the past life regression session is undertaken; I
will explain that in a little while.
If you are here reading this from the prospective of a client that may be
interested or just curious to know whether some issue or problem you are struggling with has its roots in a past
life, you do not necessarily have to believe in reincarnation as a pre-requisite for this therapy.
Why is it important for me to point this out? Simply because there may be other
explanations for the memories that are experienced during a hypnosis regression and who am I to state that the
reincarnation theory is the only one or indeed more accurate
than say the genetic memory theory or Carl Jung’s collective unconscious theory (which is not that far removed
from the genetic memory theory). Another idea is that it
is nothing more than a metaphor created by the unconscious mind for the resolution of a problem. The very recent
and controversial genetic memory theory has a plethora of information out there regarding instinctual behaviour
in animals and indeed the human animal.
"There's so much. We've hardly scratched the surface. I think we're hardly
babes crawling on the floor of the universe. There's so much which we will unfold in time."
Professor William Tiller
What I do know is that it will always be highly beneficial for a client to come
with an open mind; also that our present is inextricably bound up with our past.
From my experience to date, contrary to popular belief, I haven’t had anyone be
Cleopatra, Henry the Eighth or Joan of Arc. It may be useful to explain at this point, that past lives can
be quite ordinary. Past Life Regression may sometimes be challenging, HOWEVER, the client can experience a
release of negative emotions and therefore leave feeling more enlightened and lighter.
How is a Past Life Regression undertaken?
I take a thorough case history and discuss any of the issues that you the
client may wish to resolve, ensuring that you, the client and I feel it is appropriate to embark
on. I will then guide you into hypnosis in a way that I
feel that is right for you.
During the experience, as Freud observed, we can assume that all the positive
experiences will naturally take care of themselves. I reassure you, the client that there are many ways to deal
with any negative emotions whilst in hypnosis; it can be viewed dissociated, as though looking at it like a
scene in a film or look down at the memory with their “inner” eye. With my
guidance we will work together to resolve and heal any of the negative emotions from the past life that may
be presenting and affecting you the client, in this life.
As a Past Life Regression specialist I would like to state my stance on the
many opinions regarding the authenticity of the process. For example whether the client’s memories are real and
can be verified as a past life and also the argument made many times that the client is receiving suggestions
from the therapist by asking for information in a leading way.
I personally do not use this therapy for the provision of proof for the “Life
after Death” debate; therefore it would not matter to me whether the memories are confabulation, genetic memory,
collective unconscious, just the unconscious or a past life. What DOES matter it that the client has experienced some kind of answer
and or resolution for the issue they are wanting healed in some way. I am also trained to ask very non leading questions to ensure that the
client is able to access their own processes, where I follow, keeping my language and questions open and
“clean”.
This process is not usually less than two hours.
